Income Tax Notices

You may have received an income tax notice from the Comptroller's Office if:

  • we believe you have not paid the correct amount of tax due.
  • you did not pay the full amount due with your return.
  • we believe your Maryland return may need adjustments because of changes the IRS made to your federal return.

If you have questions about the notice you received, call the phone number on the notice promptly. By calling the number on your notice, you can find out how to resolve the dispute or file an appeal and request a hearing. Failure to respond to the notice may cause us to assess additional penalty and interest charges.
